Topic: Protocol as an international communication tool

Steve Derden is the head of Protocol and Events for NATO’s summits and ministerial task forces. As the Deputy Director, he assists the Director in coordinating and organizing high-level meetings, ensuring the successful execution of NATO’s key events for the Office of the Secretary-General at the Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

Mr. Derden has also served as a Close Protection Officer to the Secretary General of NATO and for the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Belgium, ensuring the safety and security of the Secretary-General during official functions and of the Royal Household.

Steve has developed a deep understanding of protocol, event coordination, and security, successfully contributing to the smooth functioning of NATO’s high-level meetings and events.
